Please note that when the season begins this blog address will be replaced by a new one. There will be a link to the new blog on the old site.

Cancellations on account of weather will be posted to the blog...please check it within an hour of the start time on Saturday morning. You will only be called if we do not have an email address for you. If you do not have access to the internet on Saturday mornings please let me know.

The Fall season begins on Saturday, April the 14th and runs until June the 9th.

We will play at Amerige Park in Malden. There is a link to directions on the blog. The field is situated between Highland Avenue and Fellsway East.

There will be ten teams of 13 players, six teams will play at 8:30am, four teams will play at 10:00am...all teams will play at both times during the course of the season.

Each session lasts for 90 minutes and consists of 45 minutes of drills/skills practice and a 45 minute scrimmage against another team. In reality, with frequent breaks we don't actually play for as long as that.

At the U6 level it's very much about having the kids run around, getting used to kicking the ball and playing with teammates. Most of all, of course, is letting the kids have fun while introducing them to soccer.

We try to keep all the players active, minimizing standing around time. However, during the game we do make use of substitutes in order to keep the teams small which allows everyone to get some time on the ball.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED BY PLAYERS...

full uniforms, numbered shirt, shorts and socks will be provided by the league.

players are issued with one uniform per calendar year.

if your child is playing on the same team as he/she did in the Fall or Winter please use the uniform you have already been issued.
if your child is playing on a different team than the one he/she played on in the Fall or Winter then he/she will be issued a new shirt and socks...you should bring the black shorts.
if your child did not play in the Fall or Winter seasons then he/she will be given a new full uniform.

you will need to supply ;

soccer cleats, better than sneakers on the grass
shinpads
a size 3 ball with the players name on it (it's important that they have their own ball...we don't want them going home and not having a ball to kick around)
long pants and long sleeved shirt worn under the team shirt if the weather requires it
water - for frequent breaks

BASIC RULES FOR PLAYERS AND PARENTS...

At least one adult supervisor must stay during the entire session but should be encouraged to watch and not interfere with the session.
Having said that, parental involvement and help is appreciated and encouraged...particularly in kicking the ball back on the field when it goes out.

The adult supervisor should also pay attention to the player if he or she is not currently on the field...under 6's often take time out beyond the official water breaks.

Players who are not registered with the league cannot play...this is an insurance issue.
